This privacy policy explains how The Magazine company Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects personal data when you visit themagazinecompany.uk or contact us through the website.
We take your privacy seriously and handle your information in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR).

2. What personal data we collect
When you submit our Media Pack request form, we collect:
- Your name
- Your business name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- The nature of your enquiry (Editorial, Advertising, or Sponsorship)
- Any optional message you choose to include
We do not collect special-category data (health, race, religion, political views, etc.) and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
If you contact us by phone or email separately, we may also collect any information you choose to share in that correspondence.
3. Why we collect it (our lawful basis)
We rely on two lawful bases under Article 6 of the UK GDPR:
- Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) — to respond to your enquiry, send you the requested media pack, and follow up on a B2B basis. We have weighed your interests and rights and consider this processing to be reasonably expected by anyone making a business enquiry.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — for any optional marketing communications you specifically opt in to receive in future.
You can object to legitimate-interest processing or withdraw consent at any time (see section 7).
4. How we use your data
We use the personal data you provide to:
- Send you the requested 2026 Aspire & Defined media pack
- Respond to and follow up on your enquiry
- Maintain a record of business correspondence for our internal records
- Comply with any legal, regulatory or accounting obligations
We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data with anyone.
We share your data only with:
- Our staff — on a need-to-know basis to handle your enquiry
- Our hosting and email providers — Hostinger (web hosting, EU/UK servers) and our email provider, who process data on our behalf as data processors under written agreements
- Professional advisers (accountants, legal advisers) where reasonably necessary
- UK regulators or authorities where we are legally required to do so
We do not transfer your data outside the UK or European Economic Area.
6. How long we keep it
We keep enquiry data for up to 24 months from the date of your last contact with us, after which it is securely deleted unless we have a legal reason to retain it longer (for example, accounting records under HMRC rules, which we keep for 6 years).
You can ask us to delete your data sooner — see section 7.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”) in certain circumstances
- Restrict how we process your data
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent
- Lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority (see section 10)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@themagazinecompany.uk. We will respond within one month, free of charge, in line with UK GDPR requirements.
8. Cookies and tracking
This website uses only essential cookies required for the site to function — typically WordPress session cookies for logged-in administrators. We do not use cookies for analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking on this holding page.
Fonts are served by Bunny Fonts, a GDPR-friendly mirror of Google Fonts that does not transmit your IP address to Google.
If we add analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party tracking in future, we will update this policy and add a cookie consent banner before doing so.
9. How we keep your data secure
We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your data:
- The website and form submissions are encrypted in transit using HTTPS / TLS
- Form data is delivered to a secure email inbox protected by strong, regularly-updated passwords and two-factor authentication where available
- Access to enquiry data is limited to authorised staff only
- Our hosting provider (Hostinger) maintains physical and network security at their data centres in line with industry standards
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we do everything reasonable to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
